Italian supermarket chain Esselunga has selected technology company Manhattan Associates to help maximise service levels across its 150-store network.
Described as the retailer's 'most important supply chain project' in 40 years, Esselunga has decided to replace its existing systems with a new supply chain solution capable of managing its surging SKU count, higher flow-through volumes and the need for faster and more accurate store replenishment.
Upgraded Systems
Manhattan Associates will provide Esselunga with its warehouse management and order picking solutions, which the company says will improve accuracy levels and boost the overall operational performance of the retailer's distribution centres.
Esselunga’s product range consist of thousands of individual SKUs, including hundreds of private label brands, distributed from three regional distribution centres to stores in the Lombardy, Tuscany, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Liguria and Lazio regions.
