UK-based meat supplier Eurostock Foods has been given a prestigious honour for its food manufacturing practices by the British Retail Consortium Global Standard For Food Safety (Issue 7).
The company received Grade A++, and was one of the few companies to have complied fully with BRC standards.
Appraisal included a surprise audit of Eurostock's facilities, operational facilities, and procedures. The BRC accreditation makes sure that best practices are followed, which protects the food chain, the retailer's brand, and ultimately the consumer.
Eurostock Foods operates in Lurgan, Co. Armagh and Wigan, Greater Manchester, employing roughly 250 staff.
It produces multi-species food products, including chilled and frozen items; cooked component elements such as mince beef, pork and lamb, as well as cooked and vacuum packed convenience products.
Arlene McEvoy, the technical manager for Eurostock said of the accreditation: “As a partner supplier to some of the UK and Europe’s leading retailers we have invested in leading-edge systems and processes to ensure we employ the highest possible standards across our production sites.
“This recognition by the BRC is further evidence of how Eurostock continues to raise the bar when it comes to best practice. Ultimately this offers great reassurance to both our retail customers and the end consumer."
