French retailer Groupe Casino has signed a multi-year agreement with meat supplier Arcadie Sud-Ouest for the provision of heifer meat.
The supermarket chain will receive meat from the supplier's 230 farms, spread across Limousin, Dordogne, Charente and Lot. The meat will be harvested from animals raised within ‘traditional’ parameters, with high animal-welfare and environmental standards to be implemented.
The company said that the farms have guaranteed traceability and absolute transparency of supply chain. Casino has offered the meat suppliers guaranteed quantities of sale, and price points to account for the fluctuations within the French beef market.
The Arcadie Sud-Ouest SKUs are already available in a number of stores operated by the Casino group (predominantly hypermarkets), but also outlets under the banners of Spar, Petit Casino and Vival.
