Gulfood 2016, one of the Middle East’s most important food and hospitality trade events, kicked off yesterday (February 21) at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
This year, the event has attracted over 5000 exhibitors from around the world, and features 117 pavilions. It is expected to welcome more than 85,000 visitors, ranging from industry leaders to heads of state, ministers and national trade associations, from 170 different countries.
While Gulfood is host to many of the regions domestic producers and organizations, including the Dubai Airport Freezone Authority and hospitality industry supplier, La Prima General Trading, this year 114 pavilions are dedicated to different countries, from Morocco and Egypt, to Ireland and India.
Senior Vice President of organiser DWTC, Trixie LohMirmand, commented, “The show facilitates multimillion dollar transactions as the global food industry meets, networks, sources new products and trades out of Dubai.”
Gulfood 2016 was opened by Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and will run until Thursday.
