Meal-kit company HelloFresh has opened a new distribution centre in Totowa, New Jersey.
The 127,055 square-foot facility will handle the production and distribution of EveryPlate, HelloFresh's value brand.
The company has established a strong foothold in New Jersey, with distribution centres in Newark and Swedesboro.
'Very Effective'
Uwe Voss, CEO of HelloFresh US, said that the state has become a "very effective production and distribution hub" for HelloFresh across its three brands.
Voss added that the new Totowa facility will help the company "serve even more customers with fresh, affordable, and convenient meal solutions."
The Totowa facility brings 225 jobs to the region in production, operations, and management roles, with plans to expand production this year.
In addition to the Totowa centre, HelloFresh recently began production in a new facility in Newnan, Georgia, and plans to open a new Dallas Fort-Worth distribution centre in 2021, expanding from its northeastern base to reach the rest of the US.
Lockdown
HelloFresh posted huge growth in profits in 2020 due to restrictions and the closure of restaurants and other foodservice locations due to the pandemic.
More and more people turned to home deliveries and home cooking and availed of the group's service, such as online recipes that are sent to the customer's door with pre-portioned ingredients.
