Hilton Food Group has signed an agreement with Portuguese hypermarket chain Modelo Continente Hipermercados to supply packaged fresh meat to the group.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hilton will cooperate with Portuguese retail group Sonae for an initial period of 6-9 months to improve the standard of production facilities located in Portugal.
After the initial period of co-operation, Hilton and Sonae will form a joint venture to implement this partnership.
As a result of the agreement, Continente is expected to strengthen its leadership in the development of innovation and in the sustainable promotion of the agri-food business in Portugal.
Hilton Food Group is a leading specialist meat-packing business supplying major international food retailers such as Tesco, Ahold, Albert Heijn, ICA, Rimi and Coop Danmark.
