Fish Market
Italy is one of the most important markets in the world for canned tuna consumption and the second largest European producer, after Spain.
As for the fish sector in general, which includes mackerel, sardines, anchovies, and canned salmon, Ancit estimates 2016 sales of €1.55 billion, which represents a 3% increase compared to the previous year
The Doxa report shows that canned tuna is mostly consumed by the under-25s and families with children. Some 94% of the Italian population consumes the product and 43% of them do so every week, mainly because it is easy and fast to prepare.
