Italian Farmers’ Expenditure Unaffected By Fipronil Scandal

The Fipronil tainted eggs scandal has not affected Italian farmers’ expenditure, news agency ANSA has reported.

In fact, purchases have in many cases increased, thanks to a relationship of trust between producer and consumer, said farmers' association Coldiretti. It made the statement after analysing the results of a monitoring procedure undertaken at farms operated by agricultural association Campagna Amica.

The monitoring procedure was undertaken in order to verify the impact of the Fipronil scandal on the sector.

Elsewhere, Coldiretti underlined that it the often short distribution chain between products and consumers ‘guarantees a transparent relationship between the final product and its origin’.
