Dutch retailer Jumbo has announced plans to build its third e-fulfilment centre in Bleiswijk in southern Netherlands.
It will serve as a logistics hub for delivering online groceries directly to customers' homes.
The new facility, scheduled to begin operations in early 2020, is expected to create more than a thousand new jobs.
'A Major Player'
Jumbo CFO Ton van Veen, said, "The online shopping market continues to grow rapidly. Jumbo is already a major player in this market and we want to continue to respond to the needs of our customers. [...] With an efficient and scalable infrastructure, we ensure an even stronger omnichannel offer for our customers."
In 2014, Jumbo opened its first EFC in Den Bosch, followed by the second in Raalte in 2018.
According to the retailer, the two facilities are expected to reach their maximum capacity by the end of 2020.
