German retailer Kaufland, part of the Schwarz Group, is restructuring its distribution structure, moving from a centrally managed operation to a decentralised business.
According to Lebensmittel Zeitung, Kaufland will restructure its business around six regional distribution centres in Germany, similar to that of rivals Rewe and Edeka.
This model will also potentially be rolled out to other countries in which Kaufland has a presence.
Lebensmittel Zeitung also reported that Kaufland is likely to launch an online shopping venture by 2017 at the latest.
