Lidl Portugal has announced that it is the first retail chain in Portugal to cease the sale of eggs from hens kept in cages.
The initiative is part of the retailer’s overall strategy of sustainability and aims to reinforce the commitment to animal welfare and the development of a value chain that guarantees the best quality for the customers.
From now on, Lidl Portugal will only sell eggs from chickens reared outside of cages and from free-range chickens.
Industry-Wide Commitment
This commitment involves suppliers, consumers and employees and aims to appeal to responsible choice and privilege animal welfare.
In turn, Lidl Portugal believes that by investing in animal welfare will result in ensuring customer satisfaction.
