Lidl UK has collected two prizes for 'Mid-Size Store Retailer of the Year' and 'Marketing Campaign of the Year' at the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Awards.
The retailer received the second award for the mussels advertising campaign that it is currently running, which showcases the importance of sustainable fishing.
The retailer has committed to having 100% of its private label fresh and frozen wild caught fish MSC-certified as sustainable by 2019, and has a similar commitment for its farmed produce, which it says will be achieved in 2018.
“At Lidl, we’re extremely proud that the fresh wild caught fish in our core range is now fully MSC-certified,” said Amali Bunter, the company’s responsible sourcing manager.
“This reflects our passion as a business to drive change in the water and ensure seafood supplies for future generations as well as reinforcing the trust and loyalty we’ve been building with our customers.”
