Lidl has increased the range of sustainable product it sells in its Dutch stores by 40% in two years, according to a report published by the discounter.
Distrifood reported that the percentage of 'sustainable' food products on sale at Lidl Netherlands currently stands at 19%, up from 13.5% two years ago.
Increased Range
Lidl has pledged to increase the number of sustainable items it sells in store by at least 10% on a yearly basis, as well as to engage with its suppliers on matters such as biodiversity and water usage. It also plans to roll out messaging in-store to notify customers about its sustainable practices.
Elsewhere, Distrifood reported that Lidl Netherlands is seeking to install solar panels on at least ten of its stores each year, as well as explore the use of windmill power for its stores.
By next year, it has also pledged to ensure that at least 30% of the senior positions in its organisation should be held by women.
