Lidl Switzerland Switches To 100% Fairtrade Bananas

From this month, all bananas offered by Lidl Switzerland will bear the Fairtrade Max Havelaar accreditation, which guarantees that all product is fairly sourced.

This retailer said that the move marks another milestone for its sustainable product range and represents its commitment to greater sustainability and to improving the working and living conditions in producer countries.

The switch to Fairtrade-certified bananas (100%) is of particular significance, as bananas are the most profitable fruit in the retailer’s range.

Certified Palm Oil

In addition, Lidl Switzerland has achieved a further goal in cooperation with the WWF, with the news that 100% of the palm oil in its private label products is now certified.

The retailer has adopted certification from Bio Suisse and that of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palmoil (RSPO), on products that contain palm oil.
