Makro Portugal has announced the adoption of a new corporate model, which grants it greater local autonomy on a commercial and operational level.
Makro Portugal will now directly report to the Metro Group’s Operations Board in Germany, while the back office functions will continue with a joint approach in Poland and Spain.
The greater local autonomy will allow the retailer to fully consider the needs of its Portuguese clients and the domestic market, focusing on HoReCa customers and their needs.
According to the managing director of Makro Portugal, Tanya Kopps, “this new reality is a sign of confidence in the domestic market and in making local decisions".
The announcement follows the strategy announced earlier this year, which resulted in the company's focus on the HoReCa channel.
Makro Portugal operates a total of 10 outlets in Portugal
