Monoprix Making Supply Chains More 'Bee-Friendly'

Monoprix has begun collaborating with the label 'Bee Friendly' and a panel of agricultural experts to make its supply chains more supportive of sustainable pollination.

The project, named Tous Cultiv’acteurs, has already seen a number of Monoprix suppliers take steps to ensure that bees’ ecosystems are not damaged by pesticides. Approximately 30 suppliers have signed up to the programme already, the retailer said in a press release, with more likely to follow suit.

“The ambition of Monoprix Tous Cultiv’Acteurs is to assist farmers in their progress to the point at which they can label their products ‘Bee Friendly’,” the company said.

“The criteria for meeting this standard are very rigorous. They incorporate a blacklist of banned pesticides, as well as good agricultural practices which encourage biodiversity.”
