For the purpose of opening more convenience stores in south-west England, Morrisons is enlarging its Bridgewater distribution centre.
The site will be 95,000 square feet, and will serve 100 Morrisons convenience stores. At present, the firm has ten of these in the region. Among them are the Royal Wootton Bassett and Bath outlets.
John Passman, who is Morrissons' head of multichannel distribution and infrastructure, said:
"We already have picking and distribution expertise at Bridgewater, and it makes commercial sense to leverage that expertise to support the growth of our convenience business in the region."
Up to 50 jobs are expected to be generated as a result of the undertaking.
