Morrisons Introduces Local Yorkshire Products To Stores

UK retailer Morrisons has announced the first wave of Yorkshire suppliers whose products will be stocked in its stores, as it plans to introduce more homegrown food and drink to consumers.

The Bradford-based supermarket chain reported that its Yorkshire customers want to see more food and drink made and produced ‘just down the road’ from their communities.

The retailer said that 75 Yorkshire suppliers applied to take part in Morrisons local food-makers programme.

New Additions

Morrisons has revealed the first three local food and drink makers that have been selected;

  • Masons Gin - will enter 133 stores from 19 June
  • Grandma Wild’s Biscuits - will enter all Yorkshire stores from 26 June
  • Parrs Foods - will enter all Yorkshire stores from 3 July

Danny Clee, Morrisons' local solutions manager for Yorkshire, said, “Morrisons is a Yorkshire business with over 20,000 colleagues in Yorkshire. Our customers tell us they want to see more local food and drink produced in our stores and this programme aims to do just that".
