Nestlé Italia has announced plans to invest €48 million in the Buitoni factory in Benevento to make it an international hub for frozen pizza production.
The investments will come from Nestlé Group, with contributions from the Italian government and the Campania region.
The introduction of cutting-edge technology will result in the radical renewal of production lines, which currently only serve the domestic market.
According to Luis Cantarell, Nestlé's head of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, the plant will triple its production capacity within 18 months.
Nestlé’s intention is to make Buitoni frozen pizza and the Campania-based factory a centre of excellence in this sector, as it did by investing more than €200 million in chocolate company Perugina and sparkling water producer San Pellegrino.
