Nestlé Spain has invested €300,000 in renovating and expanding its condensed milk facility in Pontecesures, Galicia.
The project has seen Nestlé Spain carry out renovations at the production facility and expand the load preparation area, among others, the company noted.
Factory director, Júlio Diniz added, "With this reform, the factory achieves a better response capacity in truck loading and unloading operations, allowing greater agility in our logistics operations.
"In addition, the project has provided an important modernisation of the area with the implementation of new technologies and practices, further improving the safety of our people and the quality of our products."
The Pontecesures Facility
The Nestlé factory at Pontecesures is one of the oldest in Spain, with an average workforce of around 200 workers.
The facility was part of Ilepsa (Industria Lechera Peninsular, S.A.), a Nestlé-owned company founded on 1 February 1938.
Inaugurated in 1939, the plant produced its first can of condensed milk in August of that year.
In 1983, it became the group's only factory in Spain dedicated to the production of condensed milk.
Since 2012, this plant is also the only Nestlé factory in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa that produces this product.
Elsewhere, Nestlé Vietnam plans to invest $100 million (€91.3 million) in its Tri An coffee factory, located in the southern province of Đồng Nai.
The investment will boost production capacity and help Nestlé meet the growing local and international demand for coffee, the company added.
Nestlé plans to move the equivalent of half of its global shipping needs to alternative, lower-emission fuels with immediate effect.
