Nestlé has announced that it will disclose a comprehensive list of its suppliers, alongside a variety of data of its 15 priority commodities.
The list will include commodities comprising 95% of the company’s annual sourcing of raw materials.
An Essential Move
The move is aimed to speed up efforts by the group towards achieving full transparency in its supply chain.
Executive vice-president and head of operations at Nestlé, Magdi Batato, said, "Consumers want to know what is in their food and where it comes from.
"Therefore, transparency in our supply chains is essential, and we will continue to lead in this area."
Priority Commodities
"Following the public disclosure of our palm oil and pulp and paper supply chains last year, we are now pleased to release supply chain information for soya, beef, pork, veal, lamb, mutton, hazelnuts, and vanilla," Batato added.
By the middle of the year, the company will also share supply chain information about commodities such as seafood, coconut, vegetables, spices, coffee, cocoa, dairy, poultry, eggs, cereals, and sugar.
