Nestle To Increase Direct Sourcing Of Commodities

FMCG giant Nestle is planning to increase its direct sourcing of commodities.

The group will double the ratio of commodities it sources directly in the coming years, said chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe in an interview.

The move is in line with its policies to support rural development and responsible sourcing.

The food company will increase the cocoa it sources from farmers under the Nestle Cocoa Plan to 80,000 tonnes in 2014 – an increase of 17,000 tonnes on last year’s figures.

Nestle will also increase auditing on responsible sourcing.

Last year, the company carried out 2,500 audits.

It hopes to complete 10,000 audits over the next year.
