Pernod Ricard has outlined what it refers to as the ‘significant progress’ it has made in regard to meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Of the 17 such goals which the UN has listed, Pernod Ricard has ‘selected 12 where its impacts are or can be the greatest, thanks to the business indicators developed by the United Nations Global Compact, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)’.
In a press release, the drinks company says that it has provided ‘consumer information through different communications channels’; forged ‘partnerships with experts to prevent underage drinking’; and included pregnant-women symbols on its bottles across the globe.
In terms of meeting water reduction goals, the company said that it aims ‘to reduce water consumption per unit produced at production site by 20% between 2010 and 2020. We already decreased by 14% during the 2010-2015 period’.
Pernod Ricard also said that it is ‘committed via the United Nations Global Compact to eliminate forced or compulsory labour and to effectively abolish child labour’.
