Nestlé Purina PetCare has announced plans to invest $550 million (€465 million) in building a new factory in Ohio, US to meet the increasing demand for its high-quality, nutritious pet food products.
The decision is part of a broader growth plan for the division and marks the second new factory Purina has announced in 2020.
The new facility in the Williamsburg Township will be Purina's first new factory to be built from the ground since 1975.
It will join the company's network of 21 existing pet food manufacturing locations across the United States.
The facility will manufacture dry dog and cat food under the Purina Pro Plan, Purina ONE and Dog Chow brands.
Construction will commence this fall, and the factory is expected to be operational by 2023. The facility will employ more than 300 people by 2024, the company added.
