Benecol-maker Raisio has laid the foundations for a new production facility that will manufacture a new range of plant-based food items in Finland.
Present at the occasion were the mayor of the city of Raisio, Ari Korhonen, the company's president and CEO Pekka Kuusniemi, and board chairman, Ilkka Mäkelä.
In June of this year, the company had announced plans to invest approximately €45 million in developing and manufacturing plant-based, value-added food items.
'Agile and Adaptable'
Raisio President and CEO Pekka Kuusniemi, commented, "Our carbon-neutral industrial area is expanding with this agile and adaptable production facility that supports growth in a manner that is in keeping with the company’s overall strategy. This investment will take Raisio’s abilities to launch innovative, plant-based products to a new level."
The company expects to roll out its first products manufactured in its new facility by 2021.
The carbon-neutral facility will employ around 30 to 35 people, at full capacity, some of whom will work in product development, the company added.
