Italian rice company Riso Scotti has invested €3 million to expand production capacity at its factory in Pavia, reports Il Sole 24 Ore.
The three new production lines, two of which are already in operation, will produce around 15 million units a year initially, increasing to 20 million when fully operational.
The plant will produce processed rice products such as rice-based cakes, snacks and crackers. In the future, the Pavia plant may also include some outsourced productions.
Diversification
According to Riso Scotti, the new site will enable the diversification of both recipes and packaging formats, as well as customising customer requests in terms of ingredients and volumes.
The company is currently trying to penetrate the Chinese market and the first batch of risotto, rice-based cakes, oil and rice milk have already been delivered to the country, thanks to an agreement signed with China’s Central Leader.
Last year, Riso Scotti nearly doubled its consolidated operating margin to €11.8 million, while consolidated net profit was €5.2 million.
