Russia's Dixy Group has announced that it has successfully tested a high-tech system that will enable the retailer to automate transport management processes in its distribution centres.
The pilot project was carried out at the Vnukovo Distribution centre and involved the installation of software and an app that tracks vehicles and monitors basic processes.
The software, '1C: Enterprise 8. Motor transport management. Prof', was customised to meet the needs of the retailer.
An Efficient System
The logistics director of Dixy Group, Denis Gurov, said, "The project implementation resulted in an increase in the route turnover of [...] transport on delivery, minimising the cost of hired transport, ensuring timely delivery and the speed necessary for processing of the incoming flow of goods at distribution centres."
Gurov explained that the software also enables the automation of the process of assignment of vehicles, manages the load on drivers, and analyses the causes of delays.
The company plans to roll out the new system to its other distribution centres in 2019.
