British supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has chosen Wesupply, a provider of EDI managed services, for its non-food supply chain. The system is already being used in the retailer's food supply chain, giving some 900 suppliers browser access to Sainsbury’s information.
The new initiative is predominantly aimed at providing improved communications, visibility and accuracy within the supply chain for some 800 suppliers from Europe and Asia Pacific. Wesupply will enhance the existing browser functionality to cater for the processing, presentation and supplier acceptance of extended contract details.
In addition to the non-foods project, Sainsbury’s is to implement the final part of its foods replatforming project where the Wesupply electronic trading application will be used to manage and monitor the flow of all EDI data within the retailer’s extended supply chain.
Ed Thomas, Sainsbury’s logistics IT programme manager commented, “Wesupply have consistently delivered quality code to agreed timescales and budgets. They have always been very constructive and flexible when challenges arose, which has made working with them very satisfying.” (11 Sept)
