Spar Netherlands has announced that it has opened a new distribution centre in Waalwijk to support its stores and independent retailers in the country.
The 37,400 square-metre distribution centre also includes a semi-automated warehouse, which the retailer had acquired previously.
The facility is equipped with additional picking stations for improved processing capacity and offers better working conditions to employees, Spar said.

The retailer operates 190 Spar neighbourhood supermarkets, 67 Spar stores located in city centres, university campuses, holiday parks, and campsites, and 139 Spar Express stores, according to data from July 2019.
It has also partnered with EG Group, which operates Esso and Texaco forecourts in the Netherlands. As part of the deal, Esso and Texaco stores are being converted to Spar outlets, the retailer added.
