UK supermarket giant Tesco has launched a new web-based platform with the aim of boosting collaboration, innovation and sustainability across its suppliers.
According to the retailer, the Tesco Supplier Network will help over 5,000 global members to share the "opportunities and challenges" of delivering high-quality, affordable and sustainable products to Tesco’s customers.
It said that members will have the ability to connect directly with Tesco teams, learn more about the business and share knowledge on issues such as energy, food waste and innovation.
The new website brings together two pre-existing communities - the Tesco Producer Network for fresh food producers, and the Tesco Knowledge Hub for branded manufacturing and processing suppliers.
Speaking on the announcement, Jason Tarry, head of commercial at Tesco, said: "This new community of Tesco teams, suppliers and producers from around the world gives us the opportunity to improve communication, share ideas and continually improve the products that our customers enjoy."
The new network will play an "integral part" in Tesco's partnerships with suppliers to deliver for its customers, he added.
