British farmers are bringing in seasonal workers from Romania to fill in thousands of vacancies in farms, reports the Romania Insider.
Presently, around 90,000 jobs are available in British farms after hiring local unemployed people as fruit and vegetable pickers.
The first batch of around 180 workers arrived in London’s Stansted airport yesterday (16 April) on a chartered flight.
It was also the first of the six flights scheduled in the coming months to bring in seasonal workers, the report said quoting The Times.
Seasonal workers from Romania are also heading to Germany in large numbers in chartered flights arranged by companies hiring them, the report added.
