Vanderlande plans to launch its state-of-the-art ADAPTO system into the US market at MODEX 2016, putting the flexible storage, retrieval and transportation system on display from 4 to 7 April at the Georgia World Congress Centre in Atlanta.
According to the logistics provider, warehousing and distribution centres are increasingly facing challenges in enhancing service levels, generating higher productivity, optimising space utilisation and reducing operational costs.
The rise of e-commerce in recent years has also seen the demand for innovative, reliable warehouse solutions intensify.
Vanderlande will highlight the benefits of its ADAPTO system at Stand 2763, explaining to visitors how the company is responding to these industry trends.
ADAPTO has already proven its worth in the European market, with a number of sales to high-profile companies. It even won a European innovation award, presented by the VDI Society for Production and Logistics.
ADAPTO is a unique, 3D goods-to-person concept built on a modular configuration of racking, shuttles and lifts. It comprises a racking structure and an integrated shuttle track system with multidirectional shuttles.
Lifts let these shuttles move between all levels, exits and entries under the guidance of traffic-control software.
It also makes optimal use of space within a warehouse and can be easily upgraded to match changing business needs. It has been designed to ensure that warehouse and distribution-centre operations can meet the demand for shorter lead times and different-sized orders.
ADAPTO delivers high levels of availability because it is possible to retrieve products at all times from any part of the system. Maintenance activities can also be carried out while it is in operation.
It is expected to be of particular interest to companies handling small parts, as well as e-commerce, food-retail and fashion suppliers.
"We are delighted to be offering ADAPTO to the US market," said Vanderlande’s president, WPP North America, James Cotton.
"It has already been a success in Europe, and we are confident that companies in the US will also reap the benefits from such a revolutionary goods-to-person concept. MODEX will be the perfect opportunity to show potential customers how we can strengthen their business activities."
