Russian retailer X5 group has announced that it has opened a new distribution centre in Novosibirsk in the Siberian Federal District.
The new logistics facility will supply goods to Pyaterochka stores in the Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk and Kemerovo regions, Krasnoyarsk, Altai Republic and the Republic of Khakassia.
The 38,500 square metres Tolmachevo distribution centre has been designed to handle supplies for around 1,200 retail outlets.
Features
The facility, with a workforce of more than 500 people and a fleet of around 100 vehicles, is capable of handling up to 5,000 tonnes of goods per day.
It is equipped with eight storage zones, each with specific temperature bands, that can accommodate dry goods, alcoholic beverages, fresh and frozen products, caviar, fruit and vegetables, and a banana ripening room.
At full capacity, the centre will be able to handle products from more than 700 suppliers, driving the share of the Novosibirsk region's producers up by around 20%, the retailer added.
