Leading Russian food retailer X5 Retail Group (NV) has announced the opening of two new distribution centres (DCs) in the Republic of Adygeya (Southern Russia). The new logistics facilities, Yuzhny and Adygeya, will contribute to the efficiency of X5’s supply chain and are hoped to encourage local business.
“This year, we have opened four distribution centres: in St Petersburg, in the Moscow Region, and two in the south of Russia. Our logistics infrastructure is now more than just a platform to support the development of our own retail chain. With each new DC, we also provide more and better sales opportunities for our partners, especially local food producers,” said X5’s CEO, Igor Shekhterman.
The new logistics facilities can store all categories of food in nine separate storage zones, ranging in temperature from -21 to 25 degrees Celsius. The centres will supply 105 towns and cities in the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories and the Republics of Adygeya and Karachay-Circassia.
The opening of the Yuzhny and Adygeya distribution centres has created over 240 new jobs in the region.
