Russian food retailer X5 Retail Group has launched a strategic partnership with truck manufacturer Kamaz, using the provider for all its fleet requirements.
According to a statement from X5, the agreement "envisages developing bilateral ties to bring further improvements to X5 Retail Group's transportation support system".
X5 intends to buy Kamaz trucks from official dealers, as well as use official Kamaz service centres for maintenance purposes. X5 will purchase a number of trucks according to its fleet needs, covering the 50 regions across Russia where the retailer operates.
Chief executive of X5 Igor Shekhterman said: "Over the past few years, Kamaz has done a great job significantly boosting its product quality, primarily through the implementation of advanced production management methods and further improvements in truck design.
"The partnership with KAMAZ will help X5 meet the increasing need for new vehicles to expand its own fleet, which is viewed as an essential logistics element of today's retail industry."
