Swiss retail-cooperative Migros has announced plans to integrate a small pharmacy in one of its branches in Bern. The launch of the new in-store pharmacy will take place in summer 2017 and the pharmacy will be run by Swiss pharmaceutical company Zur Rose, which has been trading mainly online until now.
It will be the first time for the Migros cooperative to share its retail space with another retailer, on a permanent basis.
Commenting on the compatibility of the two companies, Herbert Bolliger, President of the General Directorate of the MGB (the Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund) said: "Migros and Zur Rose share the vision of contributing to the health of the Swiss population. In addition, both companies have the goal to offer the best value for money."
The in-store pharmacy is to sell prescription- and over-the-counter medicines, as well as a range of cosmetics. Automated storage and dispensing of products will enable the company to offer a wide range of products within a small retail space.
