A.S. Watson Announces Investment In eCommerce Operations

Health and beauty retail operator A.S. Watson has announced it is investing in an innovative eCommerce lab to develop its digital operations further.

A.S. Watson, owner of Superdrug, The Perfume Store and many other international retail brands, will invest €47 million to grow its online sales.

The digital lab will manage the company’s eCommerce infrastructure - website, web stores and a yet-to-be-launched mobile app.

The 'e-lab' will operate with a team of 80 digital specialists from its markets in the UK, Italy, Hong Kong and China.

The group's revamped Superdrug website will be optimised for mobile use. It will also be easier to compare and contrast different products for sale on the eCommerce site.

A built-in barcode scanning option will enable mobile users to easily search and purchase items online. 

This latest digital strategy by A.S. Watson will help the company meet its customer demands and expectations in the ever-changing multichannel landscape.
