Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has expanded its collaboration with delivery firms Thuisbezorgd.nl and Deliveroo, with shoppers now able to choose from a range of 1,200 SKUs and avail of rapid delivery.
The extended range also includes a wider choice of organic products, and products with an 'A' or 'B' NutriScore ranking, the retailer said.
The delivery service will operate from Albert Heijn stores, with two outlets in Amsterdam set to commence deliveries from next week.
'Make Better Food Available'
“We want to make better food available to everyone at any time," commented Marit van Egmond, Albert Heijn chief executive.
"We are already doing this with our stores and delivery service via ah.nl. Together with Deliveroo and Thuisbezorgd.nl, we are expanding our delivery options, so that we can also deliver the groceries to your home within about thirty minutes by bike."
Elsewhere, Gijs Weterings, country director of Thuisbezorgd.nl, also known as Just Eat Takeaway, said that the expanded service reflects the company's willingness to offer customers "more choice, convenience and the best service. [...] “Albert Heijn is a popular supermarket brand that we have enjoyed working with for years. We are now looking forward to being able to deliver the favorite groceries of Albert Heijn customers to their home within thirty minutes.”
E-Commerce Growth At Albert Heijn
Albert Heijn has reported successive years of growth across its e-commerce operations, with close to 35% turnover growth in its online channels reported last year.
It recently opened its eighth Home Shop Centre, in Roosendaal, as well as expanding its AH Compact concept to more than 50 cities across the Netherlands. It sees the partnership with Deliveroo and Thuisbezorgd.nl as the next expansion in its online offering, it said in a statement.
“With this collaboration, we are putting into practice the experience we have gained with Deliveroo Hop in various markets in the Netherlands," noted Joep Hutschemakers, general manager of Deliveroo Benelux.
Deliveroo also operates Deliveroo Hop in conjunction with Morrisons in the UK.
