Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has launched a new 'Track & Trace' system for its home deliveries, enabling users to pinpoint when their groceries will be delivered.
The information is accurate to the nearest quarter-hour, and can be used for deliveries between 7am and 10.30pm.
Ahold-owned Albert Heijn is the first retailer in the Netherlands to introduce this system, which is accurately updated with real-time information, in the event of traffic or other delays. Half an hour before the delivery is set to arrive, the customer will receive an SMS.
"This gives customers time to pick up the kids from school, for example, or walk the dog, before the delivery arrives," the retailer said in a statement.
