Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn has started a 12-week trial of an app – Find my Product – at its Van Genderenplein outlet, in Hoofddorp, according to a press release.
The app allows customers to navigate within the store and search for products.
Customers type in the name of the product for which they are looking, and then the app directs them to the location where the product is placed.
Convenient Shopping Experience
The app uses the Interact Retail Indoor navigation system from Signify, formerly known as Philips Lighting.
Smart-lighting devices in the store send out unique codes that are captured by the camera on the smartphone.
This allows the exact location of the phone to be determined on a digital map of the store, which is then saved in the app.
Earlier this year, Albert Heijn introduced Google Assistant for its Appie app and an online nutrition monitoring tool called Mijn Voedingswaarden.
