German retailer Aldi Süd has introduced a new online delivery service, Aldi Liefert (or 'Aldi Provides'), for selected promotional items that cannot be obtained directly from the store.
The service allows customers to select large and heavy products, such as electrical appliances or furniture, and have them delivered directly to their homes, for free. The items that can be delivered are displayed in the Aldi Süd brochures, flyers and website, and are marked with the Aldi Liefert logo – a light-blue truck.
Payment Method
These products are not displayed in Aldi supermarkets. Customers have to inform the cashier in store about the purchase they want to make, pay for it, and then receive a separate receipt with a PIN. The customer can then use this PIN when making his/her order online.
A supplier gets in touch with the customer within three working days, and the purchase is delivered on an arranged date. If necessary, it is possible to return the product for free within two months.
Expansion
“With the help of Aldi Liefert, we are expanding our product range and can offer our customers a new service,” said Andreas Elemans, buying director at Aldi Süd.
“We are complementing our offer of promotional items and are looking forward to delivering attractive products to our customers' homes, free of charge.”
Aldi Süd adds that smaller, easily transportable electrical devices and similar promotional items will still remain an integral part of its product range in stores.
