Auchan and Carrefour have thrown their support behind a next-generation mobile payment project developed by Fivory and Wa!, which is to manifest in a new brand name in the first months of 2017.
Essentially, the initiative is designed to make cross-channel payments more uniform, so that discounts, loyalty benefits and e-coupons can translate from e-commerce, to in-store mobile payment, to click-and-collect, with greater ease than they do at present. Mastercard, Oney, Total, BNP Paris, and others are also affiliates of the project.
Carrefour says the companies are “pooling their expertise around a single secure, multiservice, app-based mobile payment solution. The app is intended to help meet the strategic goals of digitising commerce and making life easier for customers.”
The finished product “promises to provide an even more innovative, open and streamlined solution, which will meet the customer’s desire for simplicity, convenience and personalisation while maintaining a high level of security and data protection,” Carrefour adds.
