Auchan Luxembourg has taken a step in developing in-store shopping technology by allowing consumers to pay for their purchases through scanning their smartphones in its Kirchberg supermarket, wort.lu and lessentiel.lu report.
The system has been made possible as a result of a conjunctive effort between the French retail chain, Digicash, and BGL BNP Paribas. Digicash is issued by the four most prominent banks in Luxemburg, POST Luxembourg, BGL BNP Paribas, Banque Internationale à Luxembourg, and Banque et Caisse d’Epargne de l’Etat, Luxembourg.
This BGL BNP Paribas Digicash app is available on iOS and Android. Bluetooth Low Energy and Near Field Communication Technology allow the transactions to take place.
