French retailer Auchan has signed a partnership agreement with Chinese tech firm Hanshow Technology to create a 'connected' shelf-edge label concept.
The technology will be tested on a first panel of stores in France and Luxembourg before being deployed to all Auchan Retail countries as well as all formats - hypermarkets, supermarkets and convenience.

The new concept will offer features that will help 'enrich the customer experience', the retailer said. This includes a greater reliability in the display of prices as well as a geolocation system for products, which can be accessed by consumers via the Auchan app or an interactive map in store.
According to Auchan, this innovation will also benefit retailers by offering real-time price management, information on the state of stocks, range changes and upcoming product delivery dates.
