Italian pasta maker Barilla has launched “CucinaBarilla,” a system consisting of a "smart oven" and a range of kits containing pre-measured ingredients for home preparation of bread, pizza, pasta, and other dishes.
The oven recognises the kits thanks to a special technological label (RFID) that allows preparation in the right way and time, guaranteeing a great result with minimum effort.
The project is the result of a partnership between Barilla, which produces and sells the kits online, and Whirlpool, which produces the oven, on sale through traditional retail channels.
The Barilla kits will be available from the end of July, with each range priced at between €2 to €4, while the Whirpool CucinaBarilla oven will be sold at a price of between €600 and €700.
Separately, Barilla has introduced a new pasta that uses durum wheat semolina with a higher protein content and an optimization of the shape geometry and the production process. This pasta will be recognizable thanks to a new packaging with a window on the front of the pack.
