Carlsberg and Twitter have collaborated to create a brand new second screen football app, called Strikr, directed at fans of Barclays Premier League. To celebrate Carlsberg’s position as an official beer of the Premier League, app users will be able to access a unique feed via Twitter and get involved with banter throughout matches, following teams and players of their choice and keeping up-to-date with live scores and real time alerts.
“A staggering 60 million tweets are sent during every season and during major sporting events, 50 per cent of all Twitter activity is related, so there is huge scope for Strikr to make it easier for football fans to get right to the heart of what they need to know,” said Daria Rasmussen, senior digital manager at Carlsberg Group.
One feature, ‘Trophy Tweets’, offers users the opportunity to get their tweet displayed on perimeter board advertising during fixtures.
The free app, available on Apple and Android devices, also taps into the ‘emotional rollercoaster’ fans go through during the Premier League, encouraging fans to share their mood as they track their team’s performances, and builds on Carlsberg’s TV ad campaign featuring fans on a literal rollercoaster.
