Carrefour Belgium has announced that it will soon provide its customers with a device for scanning items in the home so that they can order them online.
The device, which is remote control sized, will also be able to recognize products marketed by competitors, and scanning them will generate spontaneous suggestions from Carrefour.
According to eprretailnews.com, customers will use the device to scan their products and then add them to their virtual shopping lists. For example, they will be able to scan an empty biscuit packet and add a new one to the list.
The device will feature a database of 1.3 million barcodes and will recognize competitor products, the scanner will also be voice-enabled.
Finally, this home scanning system will allow customers to check their online orders, make any changes to them and then pick up their shopping from one of the collection points.
