Carrefour.es, Spain's version of the Carrefour online retail site, has been voted the best website of the year by consumers.
In a study organised by market-research company Metrixlab, more than 27,000 voters selected Carrefour.es as the top site in the 'Compras' (Purchasing) category.
The survey ran from 17 October to 25 November, and close to 160,000 people voted for the premier websites (out of a total of 228), nominated in 19 different categories.
The criteria involved content, ergonomic design, navigation system and site-structure management (NPS).
Carrefour.es also placed fourth in the ranking of the most visible websites.
In November, the site boosted its fruit and vegetable stocks online, rivalling Amazon and El Corte Inglés. Carrefour also recently expanded its online offering in China to span over six cities, including Shanghai and Beijing.
