Carrefour Polska has added a new feature on its website that forecasts store traffic in all outlets across Poland as the country battles the coronavirus epidemic.
The initiative is part of the retailer’s 'Dbaj o siebie, dbaj o innych' campaign ('Take care of yourself, take care of others') and allows customers to shop safely by planning their shopping trips based on store traffic.
Traffic Meter Tool
The Traffic Meter tool was developed by the retailer in collaboration with Polish technology companies Synerise and K2 Precise.
Michał Sacha, director of marketing, digital, IT, e-commerce and financial services of Carrefour Polska, commented, “Providing customers with traffic data in our stores is another element of thought-out actions aimed at increasing the security and convenience of Carrefour customers.
“We all operate in a unique situation, which also requires non-standard initiatives from socially responsible companies, and technology in the service of people creates new opportunities.”
How It Works
The forecasts are based on data collected by Synerise from more than 900 Carrefour outlets in real-time.
The tool analyses historical data collected from each outlet and offers a prediction of store traffic when customers enter details of a particular store.
Solution architect at Synerise, Marcin Zduńczyk, said, “The project carried out for Carrefour Polska proves that having a properly implemented omnichannel ecosystem for collecting and analysing data in real-time, companies can quickly respond to customer needs in a dynamically changing reality, find new ways to use their information, and at the same time improve comfort and security of services.”
