Ingenico Group omni-channel payment technology will be rolled out in all Carrefour outlets across Spain and France in the wake of a successful trial, which began in 2015.
This initiative will represent a cohesion of all of Carrefour’s in-store and online transactions, using the 'Single Euro Payment Area' created by the EU for the simplification of bank transfers .
Some of the new innovations include the Lane/5000, the new smart terminal from the Telium Tetra range, which offers interactive services at the point of sale; Ingenico’s in-store payment solution hub, secured with point-to-point encryption, and satisfying the latest nexo standards which 'promote the interoperability of card payments'. Ingenico also offers online payment services, with local payment methods and fraud-management included.
Ingenico’s executive vice president Jacques Behr said the supermarket chain is "the first retailer to deploy a nexo payment solution on such a large scale, Europe-wide. We are pleased that they have selected us to drive their strategic move towards cross-border and multi-channel acquiring solutions across Europe."
He added that their "partnership is a great example of our ability to leverage our deep geographical coverage as well as our in-store and online payment networks for the benefit of merchants."
